This song came to me during an afternoon nap in a lucid dream.
In my dream, I was lying in the back of a pickup truck on a 2 lane highway in the desert at night. No one else on the road. I’m not sure who was driving. I was staring at the sky and was going through my rough drafts in my voice notes on my phone with my earbuds on looking for a new song to work on. As I stared at the midnight blue sky with yellow cartoon squiggly stars streaking across it, I came across this song. One that was new but I had done it with my old band mates, Hudson Bell and the like years prior, I remembered that we had put the song on vinyl and that is what I was hearing at that moment. I could hear it plain as day, with my voice thundering across the sky, as the wind kept me cool, and the heat from the truck bed kept my back warm, The refrain Brilliant Girls ringing and singing in my ears in unison with my pals, and some of the verse placed in this recording.. I tried my best to sing behind myself as I recorded this song, the way I heard them singing with me in my dream to capture the spirit of this song. I really hope you all enjoy it. A salute to brilliant women everywhere.
